Fastest time ever!!

This morning I got up at 6, and got ready to go out and run. I couldn't find my headphones. So I just went without them, instead of possibly waking the babies. I walked for 4 minutes, then started running. If you read my blog at all you know I use that term rather loosely. All you speed demons out there that are hard core runners may take offense. Too bad. Sorry, but if I am bouncing around, breathing hard and both my feet are off the ground, I am running.
Anyway. I'm not positive how far I went without walking, but I was impressed with myself! I did listen to my iPod with the external speakers. For some reason I psych myself out when I hear nothing but my breathing. It makes me think I am working harder than I am. Also, I figured out where to put my iPhone so that I don't have to hold it. I finally made use of the fact that I have to wear 2 sports bras! Perfect little pocket and now it's hands free! I'm a genius!

Yes, I live in a small town. Tractor in the middle of town on my morning run.

The temps were awesome, humidity not so much. Almost felt like I was swimming! Ok, slight exaggeration. You get my drift though. I ended up finishing 2.39 miles in 28:38 with an average pace of 11:58 min mile. "Thats fast??", you may say. For me it is great!! I usually average between a 14-15 min mile on this route.

I got home and took a really fast shower, before anyone woke up. Then my friend Sabrina came over so that we could go to the just between friends consignment sale. I got a ton of stuff for both babies for $37!! Then, I went and undid my hard work by going to p.f. Changs and eating an entire order of orange chicken. Soo yummy and worth it, even if I have to go run more tonight!!

P90x=OW OW OW!!!

Today I started a new workout schedule. It goes like this: Monday- Zumba and exercise with Dad.
                                                                                       Tuesday- P90x and Zumba
Wednesday- P90x and exercise with Dad
Thursday- Zumba (only one work out yay!!)
                                                                                         Friday-P90x and exercise with Dad.
Saturday- Early morning run (if I'm not dying)
I can honestly say I am so sore! I can't wait to see how Zumba goes tomorrow. That and I'm glad I only have one work out tomorrow!
Today we did the Core synergistics DVD of P90X. Then I went to Dad's house and did 1 mile on the treadmill. Unfortunately it took me an extra 2 minutes. I cannot do one full regular push up. How pathetic! I did some girl push ups until my arms felt like jello! The girl, Dreya on the P90X videos is my hero! Amazing abs!
Dad and I have been keeping track of our calories on an iPhone app. My dad is doing awesome! He has lost over 7 lbs in a week. He is choosing water over soda, and eating way more healthy. He had a salad for lunch yesterday. He is doing way better than me. We did go to Railway Cafe (small diner in a small town) and had Burgers and french fries. We both love Dr. Pepper. REGULAR Dr. Pepper. We did not have any!!! Dad had water (this is where he is way better) I had a Diet soda. I did have lots of water though. Just not at lunch time.

I am so glad I can inspire my dad to get healthy with me. Sabrina Lemons has inspired me to get healthy, and hopefully the chain will just continue. Now on to the picture-
This is me after my 2 work outs, 2 hour nap, and getting absolutely none of my chores done today!

Have a great day, and get out there and have a great workout!!!

Keep on trying

Well, I missed most of Zumba and exercise with dad, because Erika was unusually fussy on Monday. Tuesday Ashleigh had a softball game, missed another Zumba class. Wednesday with dad, he had a dental appt. Thursday was back to Zumba, which I completed. Yay me!! It was hard after missing so much, but lots of fun! Today finally did exercise with dad. Only did 1.25 miles, but it is a start.
I am signing up to do a 5k on September 17th. Very excited about that! Gives me a reason to run more often! I will probably try to go running outside by myself tomorrow morning. Hopefully! Lol! Yay for having goals!

What makes gives you motivation to get your exercise done on the days you don't want to do it?

Completely off topic, but I have been loving the damnyouautocorrect.com site. Have any of you ever had an embarrassing text situation?

F is for friends who do stuff together....

U is for u and me, n is anywhere and any time at all down in the deep blue sea.... Or in Norman, ok. Now dont tell me you don't like spongebob squarepants, because i won't believe you!
We drove down to Norman, because my friend came up from Dallas!
We got to go have lunch at one of my favorite Chinese buffets, and visited for around4 hours. We showed her where we lived when we lived in Blanchard. I have missed having alicia to talk to. When we lived in bamberg, Germany, we were inseparable. We went everywhere together. Then we moved to different states (she was in Hawaii) and the last time I got to actually see her was 5 years ago. Now she has moved back to the mainland, and I am hoping to see her much more often now! All of us are definitely over being in the car, and can't wait to get home.
As you can tell, I typed that in the car on my phone. We are finally home and all of us are glad to be out of the car!
The first thing I did, was to lay down on the floor and stretch out.
Amos started running and jumping, and is now outside.

Erika is crawling around on the floor.
Kylah is on the computer, I know like mother like daughter.
Ashleigh is now reading, which is what she did all the way home!
I didn't take a pic of Eric, because he hates when I do that, but he is happily awaiting me on the couch. He is ready for me to rub his feet, so off I go. I am so thankful he drove me all that way for a little visit.

Not feeling it today

Well I got up and took Ashleigh to her softball practice. When that was over, we went to Dad's house to do our Friday exercise. At first I was thinking I would do 3 miles, no matter how long it took. Then I lifted weights first. I think I have been a little stressed since the girls came home. I was not feeling like running today. I ended up doing barely over a mile. I'm hoping next week will be better.
One of the reasons I am so stressed is that my oldest daughter has decided to live with her dad for a year or 2. Not this school year, but next. This is like a knife through my heart. I know she feels like she needs to do this, so I understand, but it is hard to let go of my baby! My 12 year old, luckily, wants to stay with me. So I will only be losing one, and hopefully it is temporary.
In other news, I didn't get my grocery shopping done today. I did get dinner and a pie ready for when our missionaries get here (in30 min)! And now it is raining again! I am so thankful for this rain! Our grass is slowly coming back to life, and we have not had over 100 degree temps since the first little bit of rain a couple of days ago. So, here is hoping I can let go a little, let tomorrow worry about it's self, and actually run next week.

Mondays with Dad, (and Wednesdays, and Fridays)

After doing Zumba with my friend and awesome instructor Sabrina, I went to my dad's house. He has been getting an exercise room together in his extra room. He now has a weight machine and a treadmill. I told him that we could exercise together. My dad is quite overweight, and so am I. He is on meds for blood pressure, I think he is pre diabetic, has arthritis in his ankles, and has congestive heart failure (nitro pills even). We got started this Monday. Dad walked on the treadmill at a pretty good clip for 25 minutes. I was so proud of him. While he was doing that, I did 2 circuits on the weight machine. Fly presses, overhead pull downs and reverse grip pull downs, tri pull downs, leg extensions, ab crunches, bench presses. Ouch. been a while since I did any strength training. When Dad was done (he did a mile), I did a mile on the treadmill in 14 min while he did a circuit on the machine (he did heavier weight of course). Then I made him drink a bottle of water before I let him have his Dr. Pepper. ;) We will get there one choice at a time.  I am so thankful to live around the corner from my dad, and so happy he has decided to join me on this journey to better health!

I would add a pic, but I guess pics of Dad and I together are scarce. Time to remedy that! I will post one on Wednesday!

Untamed mudders!!! Mud run recap

Kriston picked me up around 11:30. We were both nervous, but excited. We got all of our stuff together and headed out. There were people dressed up as swifters, ninja turtles, in diapers, and some even in water wings. Kriston and I wore red and black. We were the untamed mudders. We started at the top of a hill. When we started it was dry and dusty, and did I mention it was 110 degrees?

The first obstacle after the big hill, was the tires. It was slow going, but somehow even walking I managed to fall. I thought "this is a great start to the race!". Then there was a wall we needed to climb over, I went over the medium sized one that required a little bit of effort, but knew I wouldn't hurt myself. Over the wall and into a mud pit! After the first mud pit, it was nice and cool. Then we went over a hay bale mountain. Next was a cargo net and slide into a long mud pit. We skipped the cargo net, because the line was too long and went straight into the waist deep mud pit. After running into and out of a culvert, we came to the first slip and slide. I didn't keep my feet up very good, and my foot got stuck in the tarp. Therefore I went face first into that mud pit. After that there was a crawl in the mud under some flags. Then a dive through tire into another pit. I fell numerous times in the pits, because the footing is really uneven and slippery (and I may be a tad clumsy too). Then there was a balance beam. Luckily, somehow I didn't fall there. After the beams was another mud pit with firemen spraying water at us as we tried to get across. Then there was a little area with tire stacks to get through.

The very best part of the race was the big huge slip and slide!! Awesome!!!

One last mud pit (more trouble getting through, lots of falling here)
We ran past the finish line around 34 minutes.

Definitely will be doing this again next year!! The rest of the day has been spent with my family. This is what I came home to-

What a great Saturday!!!
